Individual Product Reviews
The Intex Excursion Pro K2 is an affordable, all-inclusive package that’s easy to transport and set up. It’s just not the most rigid and the exposed Velcro can be uncomfortable. It’s excellent value for money despite some design compromises.
The Costway 2P Inflatable Kayak is stable, surprisingly rigid, has a durable construction and is compact. It does, however, have an uncomfortable paddle, the seats can get wet and the carry bag slightly too small. Overall, it’s fantastic value for money, with minor flaws that are easy to fix.
The Aqua Marina Memba 390 kayak is stable, durable, portable and has great tracking, but it has uncomfy seats and is fiddly to pack-down. It’s a strong touring inflatable with minor comfort trade-offs.
The Aqua Marina Steam 412 tracks well, is stable and has great included accessories, but it’s tight for tall people and its side tubes are too soft. It’s best for shorter paddlers on calm water, but limited by its size and flexibility.
The Bote Zeppelin Aero 2P is stable, has a good build quality, comfy raised seats and thoughtful accessories, but it’s heavy to carry solo, has a slower speed and limited Magnepod mounts. It’s a well-built, do-it-all inflatable that combines comfort, space and versatility beautifully.
The Sea Eagle Razorlite 473rl has exceptional speed, a hard-shell feel, a durable drop-stitch build and a roomy cockpit, but it’s less stable for beginners, has a tight footrest setup and is bulky to carry. It’s a premium inflatable built for performance, precision and serious touring.
The Aqua Marina Tomahawk Air-K 440 is fast, tracks well, comfortable and easy to set up and pack down, but its fins get easily damaged, it has an awkward footrest design and it lacks storage. It’s a casual kayak that’s comfortable and does well on the water.
The Razor Kayaks Edge Pro 2 kayak has excellent speed and stability, and is spacious, comfortable and durable, It’s on the heavier end and more expensive, though. Overall, it’s the best two-person option we’ve seen.
The Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame Sport is lightweight, portable, stable and easy to set up, but it has a soft floor, is wind-affected and has no drainage. It’s a great value recreational inflatable.
The Bote Lono Aero inflatable kayaks is comfortable and has a high-quality build, but it’s like paddling a bus, is heavy and has a long setup/pack down process. It’s best for recreational paddlers and anglers on calm water.
The Aqua Marina Memba 330 is stable, lightweight and portable but tracking can require effort in wind, the included accessories feel budget-grade and it’s slow-drying. Overall, it’s a great value for beginners and recreational use.
The Oru Bay ST is portable, lightweight, folds small and it performs well on calm water. Keep in mind that it’s also pricey, wind-affected, has limited durability and the seat not very comfortable. It’s a clever folding kayak best for flatwater paddlers with limited storage space.
The Kokopelli Moki-Lite is stable, rigid, durable and portable, but has an awkward bag, is wind-affected and is slower than hard-shells. It’s a decent, convenient inflatable for casual paddling.
The Air Glide 385 kayak is fast, has good paddling efficiency and build quality, as well as excellent tracking. It’s less stable than lower-walled designs, but, overall, it’s an excellent full drop-stitch pick.
The Aqua Marina Tomahawk Air-K 375 has great tracking and speed, is durable, is made of drop-stitch and it’s comfortable, but it’s also annoying to set up, less stable and catches wind. It’s like a hard shell but not the best for complete beginners or extremely windy conditions.
The Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame Elite is light, stable, durable and easy to set up, but it’s tight for tall paddlers and folding it takes practice. It’s a versatile, portable kayak with great performance and comfort.
The Pryml Predator HD330 is stable, spacious and well-built for fishing, but it’s heavy, takes a little more effort to paddle and has a tricky bag. It’s a portable fishing kayak that shines with a motor.
The Razor Kayaks Edge Pro 1 has excellent paddling efficiency, tracking and rigidity, is comfortable and has a high-quality build. It is on the expensive side, though, and heavier than some others, but these are worthwhile tradeoffs for the overall performance and quality it offers. Overall, it’s the undisputed leader of inflatable kayaks.
The Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL2 is extremely lightweight, has excellent ventilation, clever storage and an eco-friendly fabric. It’s snug for two, has delicate materials, no fly vent and has awkward vestibule zippers. It’s a brilliant ultralight tent for careful backpackers, but not for rough conditions or spacious camping.
The Wecshel Exogen 2 is sturdy, weather-resistant, spacious for a two-person tent and has a freestanding design. It does, however, have poor ventilation in hot weather, is slightly heavy for ultralight backpackers and the inner-first pitching can be tricky in rain. Overall, it’s a great tent for cooler climates, but not great for hot, humid conditions. It’s worth the price if it fits your needs.
The Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 offers lightweight quality at a not unreasonable price. We don’t love its asymmetrical sleeping space, but it has loads of internal storage and other features that make this a very solid option.
The Heimplanet Fistral Classic is quick to set up and pack down and quite spacious, but it’s also quite heavy and wobbly. Overall, it’s an innovative approach to 2-person tents, but it does have its complications.
The Hilleberg Rogen 2 is extremely durable, spacious for two, has excellent weather protection and is well-ventilated. It is, however, expensive, has slight water pooling on roof and is not the lightest option. It’s a top-tier three-season tent for those who value longevity and performance over ultralight minimalism.
This 4-season tent with 2.7sqm of interior space fits two campers with a comfortable livable room. Its versatility means you can take it out for various activities, whether it's for summertime mountaineering or trekking. The lightweight fabric and double wall design do a good job of handling condensation.
