Our Analysis & Ratings

A full drop-stitch kayak with excellent stiffness against the water is the KXOne Slider 410. The 410 had some performance and comfort issues, especially given its length for two people, but it was simple to set up and very well made.

Performance - The KXOne is equipped to travel through the water with ease thanks to its full drop-stitch hull and plastic bow and stern. There is a rather high level of drag on the hull, however, that, as far as we could tell, is brought on by the dips that the curved drainage channels in the inner floor produce on the exterior of the hull, resulting in bumps that collect the water. Due to this, paddling wasn't as efficient as we had expected from a kayak with this kind of structure and design.

Construction - Without a doubt, the KXOne is a well-made kayak. The drop-stitched sides and floor inflate to a very strong 8 psi, and the outside is made of durable PVC. On the 410 model we examined, we found signs of care in the production process, with no evident glue or frayed edges on accessories. The only very minor problem we encountered with it was that the plastic layer that gives the splash guard its shape is not covered. It can be removed fairly quickly, though.

Setup/Pack down - The KXOne Slider 410 couldn't be easier to put up and pack away with only three matching inflation points and quick-drying PVC. Once you get the knack of folding it, it's one of the simpler kayaks to pack down.

Portability - Comparing this inflatable kayak to other 2-person models we evaluated, it weighs roughly 15.5kg, which is average in terms of weight and bulk. It can take a little practise to get the plastic bow and stern to fit into the bag.

Comfort - For us, the 410 is too short to accommodate two people comfortably β€” KXOne makes a 485 version that is longer, but it’s also heavier. The seat's foam was a little bit thinner than the other foam seats we looked at and because the side supports prevented you from fully extending your shoulder without pushing on the seat's side panel, we felt that they actually made paddling more challenging.

Overall - The KXOne Slider 410 is a decent full-drop stitch kayak with room for minor performance and comfort upgrades.
