Lucas Bickerton
Tester and Presenter
Lucas Bickerton is a tester and on-camera presenter at The Equipment Guide, working across our inflatable kayak coverage for the Australian site since 2026. His testing focuses on how kayaks behave for the people most likely to buy them — tracking and stability in real conditions, how long a hull takes to set up and pack down, and whether the claimed portability survives contact with a car boot and a walk to the water.
Lucas has been hiking, paddling and travelling for adventure for more than seven years, throughout Australia and Europe. He sits at the intermediate end of our testing panel, which makes him a useful check on gear that only performs well in experienced hands.
Alongside his work with The Equipment Guide, Lucas works in the travel industry and makes sure he gets involved in as many outdoor adventures and activities as his spare time will allow.
His goal is to tell readers what a kayak is actually like to own, not just how it performs on its best day.
