Jess Gould
Testing Manager and Presenter
Jess Gould is Testing Manager and on-camera presenter at The Equipment Guide, responsible for how our testing panel is run — who tests what, that every participant completes the same category matrix, and that the results are amalgamated consistently before a review is written.
As a Canadian, Jess works on and presents across Australia and North America. She has more than fifteen years of outdoor experience across hiking, kayaking and camping, and tests primarily in kayaks and camp furniture. That experience shapes the panel as much as her own scores do: she builds each testing group to span beginners through to experts, on the principle that the problems a first-time buyer hits are as much a part of a product's record as its performance limits.
Alongside her work with The Equipment Guide, she holds down a demanding full-time job in the construction industry.
Her goal is to make sure a published score reflects everyone who used the product, not whoever wrote it up.
Jess's role at The Equipment Guide
"I want to make sure we're not just publishing one person's opinion with a number attached to it - different perspectives give our reviews reliability and depth."
