Our Analysis & Ratings

A hard shell foldable kayak that doesn't require inflation, the Razor Kayaks Edge Pro is a great kayak that glides through the water at pace. There is a bit of a learning curve to set it up but once you get the hang of it, the process doesn't take long. It was probably the fastest kayak we tested and we loved the ability to fully enclose the deck.

This is a great choice for recreational or semi serious paddlers looking for something close to a hard shell.

Performance - This is a hard shell foldable kayak. The pointed bow and stern along with a solid surface mean it can travel very fast across the water. The handling is fantastic and it is very easy to manoeuvre on the water.

Construction - This is a quality construction and clever design. Deck strips allow you to fully enclose the deck should you need to. It's got a good seat and is reinforced around the key joins with aluminium so feels solid in the water.

Setup/Pack down - Sets up and packs down relatively quickly with no pumping required. There's a bit of a learning curve to set it up the first time but once we got the hang of it we actually kind of enjoyed it. Pack down is super easy, especially if you’re used to inflatables - just fold and go.

Portability - Fairly lightweight and compact at 14.9kg. It's a bit bulkier than some of the other high end models but comes with a good quality carry backpack.

Comfort - This was an excellent cockpit design - for a fully enclosed kayak, you don't feel jammed in at all. The seat is comfortable and there is a good surface to paddle against. The adjustable footrest is good enough but bobs around a bit on the elastic.

Overall - Well constructed and an absolute pleasure to take through the water, takes a while to get the hang of setup.
