Ash Nikolaou
Tester and Presenter
Ash Nikolaou has been a tester and on-camera presenter at The Equipment Guide since 2022, contributing to our camping and tent coverage across the Australian site. She came to outdoor gear as a newcomer rather than a specialist, and that perspective shapes how she tests: close attention to how quickly a product can be set up, how clear its instructions are, and whether it holds up to the way most people actually use it.
Based in Australia, Ash works alongside our testing panel to represent the beginner and intermediate end of the range — a deliberate part of how we build reviews, so that gear is assessed by the people most likely to buy it and not only by experts. Tents have become her particular area of interest, and she now advises on broader use beyond first-time setup.
Alongside her work with The Equipment Guide, Ash works in the travel industry and creates content across social media.
Her goal is to give readers an honest account of what a product is like to live with from day one.
Ash's role at The Equipment Guide
"I test gear the way most people use it — out of the box, without much practice. If something only works once you’ve read detailed instructions or watched a bunch of youtube videos, I think that’s important to know."
